The College of Education at Lewis University is pleased to announce the 2017 Summer Seminars for teachers and administrators. Each seminar is $40/person and must have a minimum of 10 people. You will earn four (4) professional development units for each seminar you attend. Please note variations in locations and times of seminar offerings.

Note: Registration for seminars will close 24 hours prior to the event.

Sessions Available:

#20 SMART Board: Creating Collaborative, Engaging Activities

Date: Wednesday, June 28, 2017 
Time: 8am-Noon
Location: Romeoville campus
Target Audience: PreK-8 Grade Teachers

Using the Smart Board and SMART Notebook collaborative learning software, participants will create interactive lessons and classroom activities. The seminar will cover creating attendance activities, editing pre-made games and ways to make lessons more interactive. Participants are encouraged to bring content material and a flash drive to use for their activities.

#21 Solving the Mysteries of Teaching Writing

Date: Wednesday, June 28, 2017 
Time: 12:30pm-4:30pm
Location: Romeoville campus
Target Audience: 4-12 Grade Teachers

This seminar will provide hands-on strategies that will promote ideas of how to teach writing from the ground up. Participants will come away from the seminar with a renewed and positive approach to teaching writing. Attendees will take away practical strategies and supportive mentor text titles that can immediately be implemented in classroom curriculum for the new school year.
