Financial Aid Office

The Lewis University Office of Financial Aid Services (FAS) has dedicated an individual to work directly with Graduate students. At Lewis, graduate students are eligible to receive Federal Direct Stafford Loans by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (commonly referred to as the FAFSA).

The University also processes employer reimbursement, outside agency scholarships, and veteran’s benefits. The financial aid brochure provides greater detail about the resources available and the application process.

Center for Academic Success & Enrichment (CASE)

The Center for Academic Success & Enrichment (CASE) delivers quality programs and services that encourage independent lifelong learners, address the diverse needs of the Lewis University student, and foster a holistic learning environment. The Center helps students (both traditional and adult) improve academic performance through advising, tutoring, and innovative academic programs. Career planning is a developmental process and an integral component of each student’s educational experience. Lewis University's Career Services counselors are committed to helping students research career options that correspond with their individual skills, values, interests, and goals. Writing Center
Located within the Library (1st floor), the Writing Center offers face-to-face peer tutoring for students’ course writing. Writing tutors are available during weekdays, in the evening and on weekends. Online response to course writing is also available for students who are not on the main campus in Romeoville. Students can either make a Real Time Online response appointment or email their paper to for feedback.

The writing tutors can help student writers at various levels of experience and at any stage of the writing process, including assistance with generating ideas, organizing content, language choices, revising, documenting sources, and editing. Lewis has a variety of circulating materials in its collection. A standard Lewis University picture ID with a Library barcode is required to request and borrow Lewis and I-Share print books. Print materials are checked out at the Circulation Desk in the library.

The Lewis VuFind Catalog allows searching for books, videos, and other circulating materials available in the Lewis University Library. For assistance and to check out materials, contact the Circulation Desk in the library, 815-836-5300.

Lewis students have access to more than 11.5 million print books in 82 Illinois academic libraries through the I-Share program and catalog. Lewis students in the Illinois area can search in this catalog and request print books from all Illinois I-Share libraries. The library circulation staff at the Circulation Desk assist with the location of materials and services located within the library. They provide check out service and access to faculty reserve materials.

Research Assistance
The primary duties of the Reference and Research Librarians at Lewis University are to provide personalized assistance to students, whether in person, by phone, or by e-mail. The Reference and Research Librarians advise students on how to fully use the Library’s resources. RefWorks is a web-based citation management personal account used to organize your research, build footnotes or endnotes, and your bibliography for a research paper or project. The citations are imported directly from the search results of the Lewis University Library’s Online Databases, and from library catalogs. RefWorks accounts are free to Lewis faculty, students, and staff. The account must be opened in consultation with a Reference Librarian, whether in person, by phone, or by email. The Office of Student Services is responsible for administering the programs affecting student life. The Office is located on the main level of the Student Union and houses the Vice President and Dean of Student Services. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. International Student Services

The Office of International Student Services (ISS) provides services and advocacy for international students. The ISS office offers assistance with USCIS (formerly the INS) procedures, particularly for visa status maintenance and employment options.

Additionally, it provides pre-semester orientation for new students, adjustment workshops for continuing students, and re-entry workshops for graduating students. The office also coordinates access for international students to both University and external resources, for insurance, banking, social security, and daily life needs.

In addition, the Office of International Student Services moderates the activities of the International Student Association (ISA).

The ISA seeks to foster an awareness of other cultures at the Lewis University campus, promote friendships between international students, as well as with American students, and provide support and appreciation for the international student community at Lewis University. It accomplishes this by providing special programs and opportunities for social interaction and constructive culture exchange. All programs and activities are non-political in nature.

Student Recreation and Fitness Center

Lewis University has long recognized that a quality education includes both classroom and co-curricular opportunities. The University has endorsed the concept of a healthy mind in a healthy body through the funding of the Student Recreation and Fitness Center. Here, fitness, wellness, intramural, and recreational programs and activities are provided for the students, faculty/staff, alumni, spouses, and children, as well as other Lewis University community members. This provides a unique environment for students to interact with other members of the larger University community.

University Ministry

Get involved. Get connected. Grow in Christ – All are welcome.

Ministry offers a variety of programs such as local, national, and international ministry service; traditional and social justice retreats; and opportunities to connect with others. Sundays, a Catholic Mass is celebrated in the Sancta Alberta Chapel on Sunday evening at 8:00pm and weekly at noon and Tuesdays/Thursdays at 5pm. The Ministry staff is available for personal conversation and spiritual direction for any student, faculty or staff member. On Thursdays, the D’Arcy Great Room (a very warm welcoming space in the Pastoral Center) is open from 9am to 9pm for anyone to stop by and grab a free cup of coffee and a snack, do some reading or studying, or simply relax in a comfortable chair around the fireplace.

Scholarly Work and Research Opportunities

One of the hallmarks of graduate education is the opportunity for students to become involved in scholarly work and research projects, whether through coursework or in collaboration with faculty and other students outside the classroom. During your time as a graduate student at Lewis University, please take advantage of the opportunity to seek out a mentor from among the many gifted faculty at Lewis and explore options within your discipline or across disciplines. In the spring semester, Lewis University hosts the Celebration of Scholarship which is an opportunity to showcase the scholarship, research, or scholarly creative works of graduate students, undergraduate students, and faculty. As you develop your program of scholarship and research, please consider submitting an abstract of a project you are completing to present as a poster or a concurrent paper presentation. Also, your participation in attending the Celebration is encouraged - it might provide the networking opportunity to lead you into your next exciting scholarly project. Please watch for specific announcements and the call for proposals.

In addition, Lewis University subscribes to the Illinois Researcher Information Service (IRIS) database. It also can be used to search for individual fellowship or research support opportunities in a graduate student's area of interest.

Philip Lynch Theatre

The Department of Theatre presents plays and musicals in the Philip Lynch Theatre. Originally an airplane hangar, the PLT is an intimate thrust stage designed after the world famous Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, MN, and contains 242 comfortable stadium style seats. The PLT has over 600 loyal theatre subscribers, and is one of Will County’s Heritage Corridor most unique venues. The theatre department recently added a Studio Theatre, located above the new Art Gallery, and offers a more intimate performance experience. It has movable seating and seats 80-100 patrons.
