Christopher Sindt Named Provost at Lewis University

Dr. David J. Livingston, President of Lewis University, announced Dr. Christopher Sindt, Saint Mary’s College of California Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, will become the Provost of Lewis University, effective July 1. "All of us at Lewis University look forward to the talent and skill Christopher will bring to our community as our provost,” Livingston said. “His academic leadership and administrative experience will be helpful as our university implements a new strategic plan, reorganizes academic colleges, hires new deans and prepares for a Higher Learning Commission reaccreditation visit.” Sindt stated, “I've admired Lewis for many years for its commitment to liberal learning paired with professional education, and I am delighted to be joining the Lewis community.” During his 17 years at Saint Mary's, Sindt provided exceptional academic and administrative leadership, serving as program director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing, the associate dean of the School of Liberal Arts, the dean of the Kalmanovitz School of Education, the vice provost for graduate and professional studies, and the vice provost for academic affairs. Woodrow Wilson and World War I Lecture is March 22
The Lewis University History Department offers a dinner and a lecture as part of the James P. ’60 and Mary C. Sczepaniak Lecture Series featuring author Ross A. Kennedy presenting “To Make the World Safe: Woodrow Wilson and the Impact of the United States on World War I” on March 22 in the University Dining Room on Lewis’ main campus in Romeoville, IL. Palczynski Concludes NCAA Championships As All-American
The NCAA Swimming Championships wrapped up on Saturday (Mar. 17), where Stephanie Palczynski (Warrenville, IL/Wheaton Warrenville South High School) of Lewis University women's swimming was named as an All-American after her final event. Students Take Third Place at State Cyber Defense Competition
For the second year in a row, Computer Science students from Lewis University placed third at the annual Illinois Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition. This year, teams from 11 schools competed over eight hours to set up computer systems and services and keep them secure against an aggressive "red team" aiming to steal their data and disrupt their infrastructure. Kelliher named to CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team
The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Tuesday (March 13) that Lewis University junior forward Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) has been named to the 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-America NCAA Division II First Team for the first time in her career. The Flyer Student Newspaper Earns Awards
Lewis University’s student-run newspaper, The Flyer, was recognized by the Associated Collegiate Press with three awards Feb. 16-18 at the media organization’s Best of the Midwest Journalism Convention in Minneapolis. Holesinger Earns USTFCCCA Second Team All-American Honor
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced All-Americans for the indoor season on Monday (Mar. 10), with Bryce Holesinger (Fulton, Ill./Fulton) being named to the second team. Holesinger picked up the honor after finishing tenth overall in the heptathlon with a school record 5196 points. Pulliam, Heinzer, & Kadlec Named USTFCCCA All-Americans
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced All-Americans for the indoor track and field season with Allison Heinzer (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland HS) , Cierra Pulliam (Plainfield, Ill./Romeoville) , and Lane Kadlec (Lockport, Ill./Lockport) making the list. Kelliher Named D2CCA and WBCA First Team All-American
Lewis University's Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) earned some more postseason honors on Monday as she was named to the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-American teams. Free Foreign Language Classes Continue This Summer
Lewis University again will offer STARTALK, a free four-week foreign language summer program featuring beginning Russian and Chinese courses. It is intended for high school students entering grades 10, 11 and 12, and Lewis students entering freshman, sophomore and junior years. IBEW Rep Visits Lewis University’s Advanced Radio Class
Lewis University students in the Advanced Radio class received enlightenment on the realities of broadcasting unions by alumnus Brett Lyons, business representative of IBEW, Chicago Local 1220, which is the union representing the Radio and Television Broadcast Engineers of Chicago.
