Lewis Women's Track & Field Finishes in Top 15 at National Championship

Published: March 12, 2018.

Lewis University women's track and field finished fifteenth with 17 points thanks to Allison Heinzer (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland HS), Lane Kadlec (Lockport, Ill./Lockport), and Cierra Pulliam (Plainfield, Ill./Romeoville) at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships which wrapped up Saturday (Mar. 10).

Pulliam carried her momentum from day one into day two finishing fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 12.45 meters earning her second All-American honor of the weekend.

Heinzer also earned the title of first team All-American after taking third in the 400 meter run with 54.74. She placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with 24.28.

Being named as a second team All-American was Kadlec after she took twelfth in the shot put with a 14.42 meter toss.

"We were hoping for a top 15 finish and that's exactly what we got." Lewis women's track and field head coach Dana Schwarting said. "Allie performed great in her first individual competitions at the NCAA level. Breaking two school records and finishing as well as she did in a tough 400 and 200 meter double was a great step forward in her career. Cierra returning to the podium in the triple jump was a key goal this year and will give her confidence for the outdoor season. Lane competed well in her first indoor NCAA competition, earning second team All-American is something she can build off of going forward."

The outdoor season will begin April 6 for the Flyers at the Bellarmine Invitational.
