Lewis' Kelliher Named D2CCA Women's Basketball First Team All-Region

Published: March 12, 2018.

The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) announced on Monday (March 12) that Lewis University's Jessica Kelliher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha North) has been selected to the 2018 D2CCA Women's Basketball All-Midwest Region First Team. She is now eligible for All-America accolades.

Lewis has had at least one All-Region First Team selection in each of the past five seasons. Mariyah Brawner-Henley earned the honors in 2014, 2015 and 2016, while Jamie Johnson was honored in 2015 and 2017 and Kelliher was honored in 2017.

Kelliher, the 2017 and 2018 GLVC Player of the Year, was a D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team selection as a freshman and a First Team selection last season. A seven-time GLVC Player of the Week, Kelliher leads Division II in scoring (24.7 ppg) and scored in double-figures in all 32 games, including 16 games of 20+ points and eight games of 30+ points. She set new school single season records this year in points (789), scoring average, field goals made (313), field goals attempted (468).

The Waukesha, Wis., native also set a school-record with a field goal percentage of 66.9% (313-for-468), which was also second best in NCAA Division II. Kelliher has the best career field goal percentage (64.2%) and the highest career scoring average (20.9 ppg.) of any active Division II player. She is second all-time in school history with 1,986 points, scoring average (20.9 ppg), field goals made (786) and free throws attempted (579).

"Playing in one of the toughest regions in the nation, Jess consistently made her mark day in and day out as one of the best players in the nation," head coach Samantha Quigley Smith said. "Her ability to adjust to opponent's game plans and become better as the season went on is truly a testament to the type of player and person she is."

Lewis finished the 2017-18 campaign with a record of 24-8 and advanced to its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament.
