Lewis University Holds Largest Commencement in its History

Lewis University will hold Spring Commencement ceremonies for more than 1,000 students and bestow an honorary degree this weekend. Degree ceremonies are scheduled on Sunday, May 20 in the Student Recreation and Fitness Center on the universityís campus in Romeoville. Sundayís ceremony will be the largest Commencement in the universityís history.

On Saturday, May 19, all graduates, their families and friends as well as Lewis University faculty and staff, are invited to worship at the Baccalaureate Mass. The special Catholic Mass in honor of Spring 2018 graduates begins at 5 p.m. in St. Charles Borromeo Convocation Hall. After the Mass, graduates, family members, faculty, and staff are invited to join Dr. David Livingston, Lewis University President, for a special reception in the Flight Deck Dining Hall at the St. Charles Borromeo Center.

On Sunday, May 20, the Professional Colleges (Business, Education and Nursing) & Accelerated Programs Undergraduate Degree Ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. in the Student Recreation & Fitness Center Fieldhouse. Tickets are required. The Presidentís Reception for Graduates follows on the University Green.

There are seven Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership recipients; they include Karen J. Anderson, Ivette M. Dubiel, Kathryn Glynn, Alfonso Montero, Michael O. Sande, Candace Marie Smith and Craig Steven Stafford.

The College of Arts & Sciences Undergraduate Degree Ceremony begins at 5 p.m. in the Student Recreation & Fitness Center Fieldhouse. Tickets are required. The Presidentís Reception for Graduates follows on the University Green.

During the College of Arts & Sciences Undergraduate Degree Ceremony, an honorary doctoral degree will be presented to Brother William Mann, FSC, President of Saint Maryís University of Minnesota. In June, he plans to retire from Saint Maryís University of Minnesota, where he has served as president for 10 years.

The ceremonies will also be streamed live online at www.lewisu.edu.
