Guidelines

Only original, unpublished works from Students, Faculty, Staff, and Alumni are eligible for this competition in the categories of writing, art, and music. First place winners will be awarded a $100 monetary prize and publication in Lewis University’s Windows Fine Arts Magazine, which is available in print version as well as viewable on Lewis University’s website. Second, Third, and Honorable Mention prizes will be awarded publication in the magazine.

Each entrant may submit a total of three entries on any subject matter in the Open Submissions Category or the Special Category with the theme of “Happiness” (the inspiration or source of joy). Students are judged separately from Faculty, Staff, and Alumni. An individual can only win once in each category of writing, visual arts and graphic design, and music.

Writing

Your manuscript is limited to five pages (poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction); however, the academic essay/research report is limited to ten pages in length with the reference page. The text should be double spaced and typed in 12 font, Times New Roman. You may email your submission and entry form to jonesth@lewisu.edu. You may also select to send your manuscript and entry form to Asst. Prof. Therese Jones at Unit1214. Each author must retain a saved copy of all literary works in a Microsoft Word document.

Visual Art and Graphic Design

All works of art in any medium are eligible. If emailing your submission, please send, as attachments, your completed entry form and a high resolution 300 or greater dpi JPEG color profile image of the work(s) to Asst. Prof. Kristin Callahan at callahkr@lewisu.edu. All videos must be submitted as a link. You may hand-deliver your original work of art to FA107a or mail it to Unit 223. Please attach a completed entry form to each work of art.

Music

A musical composition(s) and cover sheet should be delivered to Dr. Tim Bowlby at Unit 1080. Use of Finale to notate scores is required. A CD of the recorded music is required for the website.

*Note: Each submission must include an individual entry form attached to it.
