Overview

Lewis University Frontgate
The lewis learning environment

The health and wellbeing of our campus community remains our highest priority. Throughout this pandemic we have learned that students can successfully partake in a Lasallian experience, regardless of the delivery modality. Our students and faculty are currently working side-by-side in the classroom, online and in hybrid modalities while maintaining guidelines set forth by the CDC and the State of Illinois.

As we look to the summer and fall, we will operate under the primary assumption that we will have a reduced and ongoing presence of COVID-19 in our communities. Our transition to this endemic response will recognize that while the virus remains present in society, the community spread and stress on our healthcare systems have been significantly reduced.

Starting May 9, 2022,

  • Lewis University will be mask optional and mask friendly in all spaces on our campuses.
  • The members of our community will be strongly encouraged to stay up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations. We will follow state orders and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines regarding vaccinations as they evolve over the next year.
  • The members of our community are required to share their COVID-19 vaccination status, report positive cases, and continue to follow all aspects of the Flyer’s Promise.
COVID-19 VACCINATION STATUS REPORTING, EXEMPTION REQUEST

As part of our ongoing mitigation efforts against COVID-19, Lewis will require students, faculty and staff to be vaccinated to be on campus. COVID-19 vaccines have proven to be the most effective defense against the spread of this disease and the requirement will contribute to the overall health of our community and best position us for in-person classes and co-curricular activities.

Students, faculty and staff can report vaccination status, request an exemption, and engage with university support by reporting their COVID-19 vaccination status through the myLewis App. The tile on the App is titled, “COVID-19 Vaccination Status.” Students, faculty and staff can also submit using the links below. We take your privacy seriously, and all information submitted will be kept confidential.

REMOTE INSTRUCTION REMAINS A FLEXIBLE OPTION

We have adapted our class formats this past year and can now offer in-person, hybrid, and fully online learning options. We have listened to student feedback and made adjustments to our course schedules to accommodate students’ learning locations and needs.

We will continue to evaluate the situation and update this website as further details emerge.
