Flyer Women Take Second, Men Finish Fourth at Sean Brady Alumni Invitational

Lewis University's men's and women's track and field teams returned to the track on Saturday with the women posting a second place finish while the men were fourth at the Sean Brady Alumni Invitational hosted by Trine University in Angola, Ind.

The women recorded 20 top ten finishes including four event wins and five second place finishes. The men had 20 top ten finishes including two event wins and two second place finishes.

Kassady Learn (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) picked up the first event of the competition for the Flyers winning the mile with a time of 5:09.35. Anna Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) finished third in the race with a time of 5:11.71 while Caroline Pacer (Wheaton, Ill./West Chicago), Arianna Amill-Ramos (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and Jade Miller (Dixon, Ill./Dixon HS) were fifth, seventh and ninth respectively with times of 5:25.13, 5:30.40 and 5:35.60.

Kyla Chalmers (Elk Grove Village, Ill./James B. Conant) and Vivica Phillips (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South HS) took the top two spots in the 400 meters with times of 59.50 seconds and 1:01.73 respectively.

Chalmers also won the 200 meters in a time of 26.16 seconds and was joined by Alexandra Martinez (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfeild Central) who finished fifth, Phillips took sixth and Essence Winters (Belleville, Ill./Belleville East) was ninth with times of 27.37 seconds, 27.60 seconds and 27.93 seconds respectively.

Natasha Bernett (McAlpin, Ill./Lane Tech) was second in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.83 seconds and Jada Hoffman (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy) was second in the 60 meters at 7.63 seconds.

Nadia Roberts (Burbank, Ill./Burbank (Reavis)) took fourth in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.55 meters (5'1"). Jamie Poppen (Ballwin, Mo./Parkway West) finished second and Malen De La Fuente (Irun, Spain/Universal School)s took fourth in the pole vault. Poppen cleared a height of 3.40 meters (11'1.75") while De La Fuentes cleared the bar at 3.30 meters (10'10").

Bernett finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.41 meters (17'9") and Jena Martin (Smithville, Mo./Smithville) came in third with a jump of 5.38 meters (17'8").

Jaden Christian (Braidwood, Ill./Braidwood (Reed-Custer)) won the triple jump with a leap of 11.75 meters (38'6.75").

For the men, Charlie Wirth (Greenville, WI/Hortonville HS), Ian Morrison (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield North HS), Payton Goudreau (Fox Point, Wis./Nicolet), Sean Ryan (Independence, Ky./Saint Henry) and Jacob Kodrick (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg HS) all finished in the top 10 in the mile. Wirth won the event in a time of 4:25.64 while Morrison was second at 4:30.85, Goudreau checked in at four crossing the line at 4:35.09, Ryan was seventh at 4:37.12 and Kodrick finished 10th at 4:39.24.

Keegan Zack (Watseka, Ill./Watseka Community) won the triple jump with a leap of 14.64 meters (48'0.5"), Zach Olenek (Algonquin, Ill./St. Edward Central Catholic) finished third with a jump of 14.51 meters (47'7.25") and Will DeBolt (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) came in fourth at 14.01 meters (45'11.75").

Angelo Vassilakis finished third in the 60 meters with a time of 6.97 seconds and was 10th in the 200 meters at 23.22 seconds.

Jacoby Jones (Romeoville, Ill./Romeoville) and DeBolt finished second and fourth in the 400 meters with Jones crossing the line at 51.30 seconds while DeBolt was fourth at 52.16 seconds.

AJ Smith (Floyds Knobs, Ind./Silver Creek) and Dillon Pottschmidt were fifth and sixth in the 600 meters with times of 1:25.66 and 1:25.76 seconds respectively.

Connor Wagner (Elgin, Ill./Burlington Central) finished fifth in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.45 seconds.

Kevin Cousins (Mishawaka, IN/Saint Joseph HS) and Charlie Rickerson (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln-Way West HS) were fifth and ninth in the pole vault. Cousins cleared the bar at 3.65 meters (11'11.75") while Rickerson made a height of 3.20 meters (10'6").

Zack was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.83 meters (22'5").

Gyasi Boisson (Trinidad and Tobago/) and Zyaire Shermon (/) were seventh and 10th in the shot put. Boisson's best heave was 13.71 meters (44'11.75") while Shermon's was 12.92 meters (42'4.75").

The Flyers return to the track next Saturday (Jan. 22) as they travel to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invite.
