Lewis Men's Cross Country Named NCAA Division II National Championship Qualifier

The NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country Championships, which is set to take place Friday, Dec. 2 at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Wash. The Lewis men's cross country team received an at-large bid for the championships hosted by Seattle Pacific University.

There were 34 teams selected to participate in each championship and the top three, seven person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large with Lewis getting one of the additional berths.

The men's race will begin at 12 p.m. CT. and will be broadcast via webstream at www.NCAA.com.

Lewis was led by Charlie Wirth (Greenville, Wis./Hortonville) in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regionals, who finished in 12th place and collected All-Midwest Region honors after crossing the finish line at 31:32.40 in the 10K race.

(72nd) Patrick Hennessey (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger) – 32:59.34
(76th) Jacob Hinchley (Homer Glen, IL/Lockport Township) - 33:02.85
